Arrest warrant issued for man accused of threats to Premier

An arrest warrant was yesterday issued for a man charged with making threats to the Premier after he failed to appear in Supreme Court.

Jared Gordon, 31, earlier pleaded not guilty to a charge of posting a message to David Burt on social media that was “menacing in character”.

He was remanded in custody in July after his parents were unable to sign his bail form.

But senior magistrate Juan Wolffe last month released Mr Gordon on the condition that he wear an electronic tag.

Mr Gordon was ordered to appear in Supreme Court this morning, but failed to show up.

Puisne Judge Craig Attridge waited 25 minutes before he issued a warrant for Mr Gordon’s arrest.

He said: “Mr Gordon was bailed to appear here this morning and having failed to appear this morning at almost 11.25am, I don’t see that I have any alternative but to issue a warrant.”
