Power has been restored to thousands of homes at the west end left without electricity last night.

Belco today reported a transmission cable fault was behind the problem. Approximately 8,900 customers, from Belmont to Dockyard, lost power around 11.19 p.m.

A company spokesperson said crews discovered the fault near Haywards Grocery Store in Warwick. Electricity was restored to all customers by 3.10 a.m.

An investigation is now taking place into the cause of the fault.

Belco thanked customers for their patience and cooperation.
