BSX slides down

On a day of falling markets worldwide, the Royal Gazette/Bermuda Stock Exchange Index (BSX) was unable to buck the trend dropping 1.32 points (0.03 percent) to close at 4,830.71 yesterday.

A total of 70,458 shares worth $596,120 were traded throughout the day.

BELCO Holdings Ltd. declined by 75 cents (3.6 percent) to finish on $20.25, with 500 shares changing hands, while LOM (Holdings) Ltd. also dropped 30 cents (7.9 percent) to close down at $3.50, as 43,000 shares were traded.

But, Butterfield Bank climbed 10 cents (0.6 percent) to finish up at $17.70, with 10,200 shares traded.

The BSX Insurance Index, however, was slightly down by 0.07 percent at 1,095.51.
