Nine ponies will be making their debut, including Grand Shady, the son of Shamrock Shady, who is best remembered for setting the world half-mile track record of 59 seconds seven years ago.

It will be the first race ever for Shamrock's Formal Attire, the two-year-old son of Shamrock Tuxedo and Bermuda's track record holder.

Canadian horse Vita's Laser Beam, the reigning world champion on a quarter-mile track, will also take part in Sunday's programme.

Returning to the track after a two-year lay-off will be Nateway, a long-time favourite of spectators.

In a major change this year at Vesey Street, the track's hub rail has been replaced by flop down cones for safety reasons. Plans are also underway to create a passing line on the final turn home since the current area is considered too narrow. The passing line is also expected to produce more exciting finishes.
