Crash disrupts morning traffic

A crash near the junction of Church Road and Middle Road in Southampton led to major delays for traffic coming from the western parishes yesterday. At around 6.50 a.m., Police were called to the scene of a collision involving a car travelling east on Middle Road near Barnes Corner and a van going in the opposite direction.<br><br>The driver of the van, a 41-year-old Paget man, was not injured but the car driver, a 62-year-old woman from Sandys, received cuts to her face. The woman was treated at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for her injuries and subsequently discharged.<br><br>In the aftermath of the crash, traffic was diverted from Middle Road to South Road, where the temporary traffic lights by the Reefs Hotel exacerbated the delay.
