Father hands over reins to daughter at Meyer

Keeping it in the family: Henry Hayward is handing over the CEO role to his daughter, Cheryl Hayward-Chew

Meyer Group of Companies, has announced the promotion of Cheryl Hayward-Chew to chief executive officer, in addition to her current role as president.She assumes the role from her father, Henry Hayward, who remains chairman of the board.Founded in 1876, the Meyer Group of Companies is now a diverse business involved in shipping, freight, travel, tours, property development, technology services, and forensic accounting.Mrs Hayward-Chew, who brings a strong business background, has led the Meyer Group of Companies’ operations for the past four years and the Meyer subsidiary, Meyer-Franklin Travel, for the five years prior.Mr Henry Hayward said: “For the half century I have been with the company, Meyer has evolved steadily from our roots in Bermuda’s shipping industry to the expansive group of companies we are today. Cheryl has been a strong contributor to the company’s growth and direction, and her new position as CEO will allow her to expand her role to include the Meyer Group of Companies’ long term strategies and strategic partnerships.
