Photographer makes his debut with Masterworks' Artist in the Garden Series
Photographer Andreas Detzer will showcase his work as part of Masterworks' Artist in the Garden Series.Surreal Reflection Photography, Mr Detzer's first solo exhibit, opens this evening at the Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art.The exhibit introduces a new perspective in Bermuda photography. The artist has pioneered a technique he calls surreal reflection photography. The technique merges two subjects into one image through the magic of reflection.Mr Detzer's work is completed in a single shot with no graphic design edits or technical additions to the process. The artist is, perhaps, better known as the manager of Fourways Inn, Little Venice Group Catering and Café 4.He was born and raised in Germany, trained in hotel management and has also worked as a professional chef. He enjoyed photography as a hobby throughout that time.According to Mr Detzer, surreal reflection photography has opened a new chapter in the way pictures are taken.“Every flower, tree, building, animal or person that has been photographed to death is now re-opened for discovery.“With a single shot you can make a building sink into the ocean, reflect an entire landscape into a tree or merge two subjects in visual range into something amazing and surreal.“People might look strangely at it first until they understand the combination of images.“Every picture has so much to tell. The longer you look at some, the more you will see.”He continued: “No equipment is added to the camera, and it can be done with any camera and any lens,” he said.“No editing is done in any computer program such as Adobe Photoshop. I only adjust the usual things such as colour, definition, or brightness to enhance the picture quality.”The opening is from 5.30pm to 7pm this evening. The exhibits runs through February 2.
