Trailblazing American music legend Alice Stuart will perform live in Bermuda tomorrow night at the Bermuda Folk Club.“I, for one, am very excited about seeing Alice perform,” said club member Jeanie Flath. “Coming out of a generation of women who for the most part sang and let the guy take care of the guitar licks, she was a trendsetter and is an awesome guitar player.“Her example started a whole new wave of woman bands and musicians.”It has been said that Ms Stuart’s music holds within it a “flame that burns and burns”. The flame was lit in 1964, when she first appeared at the Berkeley Folk Festival. She was so well-received that it led to touring with folk and blues legends such as Joan Baez, Doc Watson, Mississippi John Hurt, Lightnin’ Hopkins, Albert King and many others.Ms Stuart left music for some time to devote herself to raising her family, but in 1996, she started recording again.Ms Stuart will perform tomorrow night at the Spanish Point Boat Club. Doors open at 7.30pm and the show starts at 8pm. Tickets are $10.
