Veteran singer Theresa Hightower to perform this weekend
The Bermuda Breeze Concert Series 2011 takes place this weekend.The show’s headliner is Theresa Hightower. The American entertainer first performed on the Island about 30 years ago, with lead singer of The Platters Sonny Turner, at the 40 Thieves Club.Also performing on Saturday night are Lovette Smith and Ensemble, Randy Lambert and students of Marcelle Clemens.“I was so excited when she [organiser Wanda Bremmer] called, because it had been so long since I had been [in Bermuda] and I was excited to be on the Island again,” Ms Hightower said. “I’ve been singing for about 39 years, performing all around the country and all around the world. I do all kinds of music.”She titled her CD ‘Multifaceted’ because it combines her loves jazz, blues and funk.“So I have instituted my own genre of music and I call it JBF, because I have three different audiences,” she explained. “I do a little bit of everything.”Doors open at 8pm at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess.
