Veterans’ tribute concert to celebrate Marley’s birthday
If iconic reggae artist Bob Marley were still alive, he would be celebrating his 68th birthday on February 6.
Lovers of his music are invited to come out for a tribute concert this Saturday, presented by local entertainment group Veterans In Action.
Music will be played by DJs Concious J of Irie FM and Jugglin Jason. There will also be live performances by conscious reggae singers Luciano and Mikey General.
Organiser Declan Harris said a similar event last year attracted over 650 patrons. Organisers are anticipating a packed house for Saturday’s event.
He said people could expect “nostalgic easy listening, roots rock reggae”.
“You will be getting specifically roots and culture and from a live standpoint, people will be entertained by one of the biggest names in reggae, Luciano, who will be doing an unplugged acoustic set. It’s something in a small environment that should be a treat to everyone.”
The event starts at 9pm at the BAA gymnasium. Other live renditions will be provided by Flookie, Rivah, Junior C, Shine Hayward and Shorty Ranks.
Tickets, $35 in advance, are available at Kit ‘n’ Caboodle, Fish ‘n’ Tings, The MoneyShop, Belvin’s locations and Somers Supermart.
