Student artwork explores countries, nature
Three Warwick Academy students showed off their artistic talents during an exhibition on Friday.
A school spokeswoman said the event featured artwork from Gabby Esposito, George Hughes and Avalon Parker, all who completed the school’s International Baccalaureate Visual Arts course.
She explained: “As part of the IB programme, students curate a selection of work developed over the course of two years, presenting pieces created through assignments as well as works produced specifically for the final exhibition.
“The process mirrors professional gallery practice, requiring students to prepare a curatorial rationale and exhibition texts explaining the themes, influences and intentions behind their work.”
Ms Esposito’s works, comprising acrylic pieces and a fish sculpture, explore her connection to the ocean, while Mr Hughes’ project takes viewers around the world.
The spokeswoman said: “The central works in his exhibition are designed as puzzle-like pieces that can be assembled into a single larger composition.
“This display also includes two three-dimensional works: a layered corrugated cardboard map and a set of three globes reflecting the environmental deterioration of the planet.”
Ms Parker’s portfolio, influenced by surrealism, explores symbols and the relationship between humans and nature.
The spokeswoman added: “Her exhibition also includes two three-dimensional works: a corrugated cardboard sculpture of a surreal house and a ceramic plate.”
• Warwick Academy’s International Baccalaureate Visual Arts course exhibition is on display at the school until March 13
