Free public concert will host two Harvard a cappella groups

The US Consulate will host a free daytime concert at Noon today featuring two singing groups from the top Ivy League school.

The Harvard Krokodiloes and the Radcliffe Pitches, two of the oldest a cappella groups from the Massachusetts university, will visit the island as part of their traditional Spring Break tour.

The free concert, to be held at the Anglican Cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity on Church Street in Hamilton, will feature their signature blend of humour and harmonies.

Antoinette Hurtado, the US Consul General, welcomed the groups from her alma mater and thanked the Cathedral for hosting them.

She added: “This has become a signature event during Harvard’s annual visit, and I invite everyone to join us over the lunch hour to enjoy a special musical performance.

“The arts are a universal language that bring people together and highlight our shared experiences and we look forward to sharing this opportunity with the Bermuda community.”

The all-men’s Harvard Krokodiloes are famous for approaching songs with their signature blend of jazz and swing influences.

Likewise, the all-women Radcliffe Pitches have a dense repertoire of songs from jazz and soul musicians, such as Ella Fitzgerald and Stevie Wonder.

The concert will take place at the Anglican Cathedral at noon, today, March 20. It is free to attend and is open to people of all ages.
