Bermuda’s first Visa cashback programme is being offered by Clarien Bank in partnership with Visa, rewarding customers for United States purchases.

It provides access to exclusive rebates on hotels, car rentals, retailers and restaurants across the US, a press statement said.

The bank said the partnership makes Clarien the first Bermudian bank to bring Visa’s popular international cashback programme to local cardholders, delivering more value and choice on every day spending.

Clarien Visa Platinum, Clarien Visa Infinite Corporate, and Clarien Visa Infinite private cardholders can now enjoy cashback rates of up to 35 per cent on hotel stays, up to 30 per cent on car rentals and up to 5 per cent at participating restaurants and retailers.

Clarien said the programme is completely free to join, and rebates are credited directly to the customer’s card between 48 and 72 hours of purchase.

“Our customers have told us they want banking that gives them more value and rewards them for their everyday spending — and we’re delivering on that,” said Ian Truran, chief executive of Clarien Bank.

“Being the first bank in Bermuda to launch a Visa cashback card reflects our focus on listening to our customers and bringing them the kinds of innovative products they expect from a modern bank. This is just the beginning — we are committed to making everyday banking better, easier and more rewarding for everyone who banks with us.”

Frank Gandarillas, country manager for the Caribbean at Visa, commented: “Visa is proud to partner with Clarien Bank to bring Bermuda’s first Visa cashback programme to life.

“This launch gives Bermudian cardholders access to world-class rewards and benefits enjoyed by millions of Visa customers around the globe. Together with Clarien, we are committed to delivering innovative payment solutions that enhance the everyday experiences of our customers.”

To access the programme, customers simply register their eligible Clarien Visa card at visa.com.

They can track rewards and view participating merchants — which currently include 122 major brands and over 10,000 restaurants across the US — through the Visa Cashback website.

The Caribbean Visa cashback programme became available to new and existing Clarien Visa customers from September 2.
