Bermuda too strong for Elite City League Select

Bermuda’s national basketball team cruised to 50-33 victory against an Elite City League (ECL) Select during Saturday’s CellOne All Star Weekend at Somersfield Academy.

Chris Crumpler led the national team with 15 points while Kevin Stevens scored 16 in a losing cause for the ECL Select in the night’s main event.

The national team led by a single point at the half before eventually pulling away after the break.

In the opening match an ECL Rookie team beat the Sophomore team 34-28 in a evenly contested affair.

Keiron Dill poured in 16 points for the victors while Dion Easton scored 11 for a Sophomore that gave their opponents a good run for their money before ultimately coming up short.

The individual events saw Jason Simons crowned three-point shooting champ, Te Jour Riley won the slam dunk contest while Vernon Lambe captured glory in the skills competition despite slipping during his run.
