Ralph Scott invited to NBA Academy Games
Bermuda’s promising basketball player Ralph Scott’s stock continues to rise after he received an invitation to the NBA Academy Games, which started on Monday, in Atlanta, Georgia.
Scott, a student at IMG Academy in Florida, got the unique opportunity to develop his skills under NBA coaches as well as showcase his talent. More than 178 NCAA coaches from Division I schools and scouts from 27 NBA teams will be keeping an eye on the budding players, giving the 17-year-old a great chance to be recruited.
“The event will feature a series of games between three NBA Academy teams,” said Tim Trott, the Bermuda Basketball Association secretary general.
“These are Global, Latin America and Africa, three local United States teams and two select teams consisting of top players outside of the US.
“Ralph is slated to play on the NBA Academy Select Purple team. Four girls teams will also participate in this highly competitive event. Practice is scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, with matches taking place from Wednesday to Sunday.”
Scott’s invitation comes after the 6ft 7in small forward impressed at the Basketball Without Borders Americas, in San Salvador, El Salvador, from May 30 to June 2, where the Bermudian was voted MVP.
Two weeks ago, the budding star featured for Bermuda Under-17 in matches against Radiant Sun, a touring team from New Jersey.
On June 23, Scott, who still has one more high school year left, posted on X (formerly Twitter) that he had received a Division 1 offer from Florida Atlantic University.
