Ralph Scott to announce college decision live
Bermudian basketball prospect Ralph Scott will announce his college of choice live on CBS Sports this afternoon.
Scott, who is ranked among the top 40 high school prospects in the United States, will host a press conference at 4.30pm Bermuda time to reveal his destination.
The 17-year-old is believed to have narrowed down his many offers to just four with Purdue, Houston, Tennessee and Texas A&M still in the running to secure Scott’s services.
It has been a whirlwind summer for the young player, who has visited a number of schools, with new NCAA rules removing the five-visit cap for prospective Division I recruits across all sport.
But Scott was allowed to make only one official visit to any specific NCAA school, with the trip not permitted to last more than 48 hours.
The 6ft 7in small forward received scholarship offers from more than ten colleges with the red carpet rolled out by the schools he chose to visit.
But his decision to bring his commitment date forward, and less than a couple of weeks after visiting Purdue, has been taken as a sign that the Boilermakers, a late entry in the race to bag Scott, have leaped to the front of the chasing pack.
Under head coach Matt Painter, Purdue made it into the quarter-finals of the Big Ten tournament last season before losing to Michigan and they received an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament as the No 4 seed in the Midwest Region.
They defeated High Point and McNeese State in the first two rounds before losing to Houston in the Sweet Sixteen.
