Butterfield gains 3%

Butterfield Bank gained more than three percent to make up some of the ground it lost this week in Bermuda Stock Exchange (BSX) trading.The bank climbed four cents, or 3.1 percent, to close on $1.34, as 207,100 shares were traded. The trades began with one batch of 200,000 shares at a price of $1.30, according to Bloomberg data.Butterfield, which was the only domestic-board issuer to trade yesterday, had started the week with a share price of $1.37.The bank’s advance propelled The Royal Gazette / BSX Index to a rise of 19.14 points, or 1.68 percent, to 1,160.47.Volume was 207,100 shares and turnover was $269,514.The BSX Insurance Index of the Island’s leading international insurance companies, fell 12 points, or 1.17 percent, to 1,011.
