BCB climbs high

Bermuda Commercial Bank Ltd was the biggest climber on The Bermuda Stock Exchange (BSX) last week, rising 4.2 percent (50 cents).

The bank closed at $12.45 with 100 shares traded.

Meanwhile Butterfield Bank dropped 2.7 percent (four cents) to $1.45 with 113,750 shares changing hands.

The bank also transacted 41 preference shares as it fell 0.2 percent ($2) to 1,233.

The Ascendant Group Ltd also slipped 1.4 percent (20 cents) to $14.05 with 1,000 shares traded.

KeyTech Ltd saw 25 shares change hands, but its share value held firm at $6.

Overall the Index slid 56.7 points (4.81 percent) to 1,178.17 as 114,875 shares worth BD$172,987.50 and 41 shares worth US$50,605 transacted.

The BSX Insurance Index, however, increased three points (0,35 percent) to 862.
