BSX edges higher

Butterfield Bank was the most heavily traded stock on the Bermuda Stock Exchange in the week it announced a third-quarter profit of $11.2 million.Just short of 105,000 of the bank’s shares traded, as the price remained on $1.30.The biggest gainer was LOM (Holdings) Ltd, which gained 24.1 percent on the trading of just 100 shares. LOM’s share price rose 70 cents to close the week on $3.60. This was sufficient to increase the company’s market capitalisation from just over $18 million to $22.4 million.Energy company Ascendant Group Ltd was the only faller among domestic-board companies. The owner of Belco slipped 29 cents, or 2.1 percent, to close on $13.51 as 5,500 of its shares changed hands.The Royal Gazette/BSX Index rose 2.79 points, or 0.24 percent, to 1,121.79 during the five days of trading.Trading volume was 158,442 shares and turnover topped $643,000.
