The Royal Gazette / Bermuda Stock Exchange Index plunged nearly three percent, as Butterfield Bank shares dipped by eight cents.

Butterfield plunged 4.6 percent to $1.65, as 2.400 shares traded.

Telecommunications firm KeyTech Ltd also fell by four cents, or 0.7 percent, to close the day on $5.41.

The index was down by 38.26 points. or 2.96 percent for the day. Volume was 2,900 shares, while turnover was $6,705.

The BSX Insurance Index had a better day, rising 8.65 points, or 0.64 percent, to close on 1,349.98.
