Butterfield Bank saw heavy trading activity on the Bermuda Stock Exchange yesterday — but its share price remained rooted on $1.99.

More than 153,000 of the bank’s shares changed hands. Two of Butterfield’s eight percent preference shares also traded, with the price falling $5, or 0.4 percent, to close on $1,195.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index closed unchanged on 1,418.61. Share volume was 153,052 shares and turnover was more than $306,000.

The BSX Insurance Index gained 9.02 points, or 0.65 percent, to close on 1,392.02.
