Butterfield Bank shares rose one percent yesterday to send The Royal Gazette/Bermuda Stock Exchange Index higher.

The bank rose two cents to close on $1.99, as 19,500 shares traded.

Somers Ltd and Ascendant Group Ltd also saw trading activity, but their share prices remained unchanged.

The Index gained 9.44 points, or 0.68 percent, to close on 1,396.24.

The BSX Insurance Index fell 11.01 points, or 0.77 percent, to close on 1,415.52.
