Butterfield falls 2.9%

A fall of nearly three percent in Butterfield Bank’s share price drove the local stock market lower last week.

The bank lost six cents, or 2.9 percent, to end the five days of trading at $1.99, on the trading of 130,727 shares.

Ascendant Group Ltd, owner of electricity provider Belco, moved strongly in the opposite direction, gaining 25 cents, or 3.1 percent, to close the week on $8.25, as 8,400 of its shares changed hands.

LOM (Holdings) Ltd fell five cents, or 2.2 percent, to close the week on $2.25, as 2,500 shares traded.

Insurer BF&M Ltd gained one cent, or 0.1 percent, to $18, while KeyTech Ltd fell one cent, or 0.2 percent, to close on $5.

The Royal Gazette/Bermuda Stock Exchange Index fell 26.49 points, or 1.86 percent, to 1,421.13.

Volume of shares traded for the week totalled 147,674, while turnover topped $420,000.
