Butterfield and Ascendant climb sharply

Butterfield Bank and Ascendant Group climbed sharply in Bermuda Stock Exchange trading last week.
Butterfield was the biggest climber, shooting up 14 cents, or 7.5 per cent, to close the week on $2, as more than 76,000 shares traded.
Ascendant, owner of electricity company Belco, gained 15 cents, bouncing back from a 52-week low, to close the week on $4.85 as 1,362 shares changed hands.
BF&M Ltd remained on $17 as 9,500 shares traded.
The Royal Gazette/BSX Index gained 63.19 points, or 4.73 per cent during the five days of trading. More than 87,200 shares traded, while turnover topped $352,000.
