Butterfield Bank shares gained nearly 3 per cent in Bermuda Stock Exchange trading today.

The bank closed up 5 cents, or 2.9 per cent, at $1.75, as 3,984 shares changed hands.

Butterfield was the only stock to trade as The Royal Gazette/BSX Index rose 22.49 points, or 1.83 per cent, to close the day on 1,248.89.

The BSX Insurance Index gained 1.57 points, or 0.09 per cent, to close on 1,665.58.
