Butterfield shares edge higher

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index edged higher despite a 3.7 per cent fall in the price of Argus Group shares

Bank of Butterfield shares today rose on both the Bermuda Stock Exchange and the New York Stock Exchange ahead of its third-quarter earnings release last night.

In Bermuda, the bank rose 10 cents to $25.15, equal to 0.4 per cent, after 14,216 shares sold.

The NYSE price was up 18 cents or 0.71 per cent at $25.50.

Insurance group Argus dropped 17 cents or 3.7 per cent to $4.38 after 39,200 shares moved.

Fellow insurer BF&M remained at $18.05 after 1,000 shares changed hands.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index closed up 1.1 points or 0.07 per cent, at 1,619.39.

The BSX Insurance Index ended the day up 10.48 points or 0.63 per cent at 1,676.35.
