A rise of 15 cents by Butterfield Bank shares helped The Royal Gazette/BSX Index stay above 2,000 points. The bank’s shares closed at $33.15, up 0.5 per cent, after 500 traded. On the New York Stock Exchange, the bank’s shares climbed 38 cents, or 1.12 per cent, to $34.34.

On the local exchange, Bermuda Aviation Services lost 20 cents, or 6.3 per cent, to close at $3 after 3,500 traded. Ascendant Group shares slid five cents, or 0.7 per cent, to close at $7.25.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index ended at 2,007.90, up 5.34 points, or 0.27 per cent.

Meanwhile, the BSX Insurance Index closed at 1,845.45, up 63.88, or 3.59 per cent.
