Three firms see stocks gain on BSX

Positive week: The Royal Gazette/BSX Index climbed 3.4 per cent last week

Shares of Butterfield Bank, BF&M and One Communications all climbed as The Royal Gazette/BSX Index climbed 3.4 per cent last week.

Butterfield was the biggest contributor to the index’s climb, gaining $1.50, or 4.6 per cent during the five days of trading to close the week on $34, as 19,832 shares changed hands. The bank’s New York Stock Exchange-listed shares closed on Friday at $34.65.

Insurer BF&M climbed 45 cents, or 2.2 per cent, to close on $20.95, just 5 cents short of its 52-week high, as 15,480 shares traded.

Telecoms group One gained 4 cents, or 1.4 per cent, on the trading of 2,000 shares to close on $2.94.

Ascendant Group, owner of power utility Belco, also saw trading activity, but was unchanged on its 52-week high of $8.50 as 6,300 shares changed hands.

The index advanced 71.46 points to 2,075.92. Trading volume was 43,612 shares and turnover was more than $1.04 million.
