Banking sector declines on BSX
Bank stocks took a tumble on The Royal Gazette/BSX Index.
Shares of HSBC Holdings fell by 30 cents, or 3.46 per cent, to close at $8.35 after 17,894 traded, meanwhile Butterfield Bank was down 90 cents, or 1.7 per cent, at $51.25 after 5,287 changed hands. In New York, Butterfield's shares were lower by 10 cents, or 0.19 per cent, at $51.91.
On the local exchange, One Communications Ltd were up four cents, or 1.4 per cent, at $2.94 after 1,421 shares changed hands, while Watlington Waterworks Ltd improved by 50 cents, or 2.4 per cent, to $21.50 after 76,520 were traded.
The total value of shares traded on The Royal Gazette/BSX Index was $4.6 million. The exchange was down 39.43 points, or 1.35 per cent, at 2,889.81.
The BSX Insurance Index was down 13.53 points, or 0.71 per cent, at 1,897.77.
