Butterfield shares gain 2%

Shares of Butterfield Bank rose 2 per cent in Bermuda Stock Exchange trading.
The bank's shares climbed $1 to close on $51 as 1,500 shares changed hands. In New York, Butterfield's US-listed shares gained 62 cents, or 1.2 per cent, to close of $51.72.
Ascendant Group Ltd also had a positive day, gaining five cents, or 0.3 per cent to close on $16.50, a new 52-week high for the stock, as 5,100 shares traded.
The Royal Gazette/BSX Index gained 45.46 points, or 1.6 per cent, to close on 2,866.69.
The BSX Insurance Index added 4.81 points, or 0.28 per cent, to close on 1,731.94.
