Butterfield Bank shares were up 50 cents, or 1.6 per cent, at $32 after 200 traded on The Royal Gazette/BSX Index. In New York, the bank’s shares were up 35 cents, or 1.07 per cent, at $32.97.

On the local exchange a total of 4,220 shares of Ascendant Group, and 8,120 shares of One Communications were traded, but with no change to their closing prices.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index was up 22.49 points, or 1.14 per cent, at 2,002.9, while the BSX Insurance Index was down 10.34 points, or 0.7 per cent, at 1,473.24.

In other news, BF&M Limited repurchased 20,000 common shares at an average price of $16.20 in December, as part of its share repurchase programme. The repurchased shares were reserved for issuance.
