Somers shares gain 4.9%

Somers shares helped The Royal Gazette/BSX Index climb higher

Shares of Somers Ltd gained nearly 5 per cent in Bermuda Stock Exchange trading yesterday.

The financial-services investment company, which owns Bermuda Commercial Bank, rose 75 cents, or 4.9 per cent, as 100 shares changed hands. Somers was the only stock to trade on the BSX.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index added 4.99 points, or 0.24 per cent, to close on 2,052.86.

Butterfield Bank’s US-listed shares fell 43 cents, or 1.3 per cent, on the New York Stock Exchange.

The BSX Insurance Index rose 6.35 points, or 0.4 per cent, to close on 1,505.55.
