Shares of Butterfield Bank fell 7 per cent in Bermuda Stock Exchange trading.

The bank dipped $2.75 on the trading of 503 shares to close on $36.50.

Butterfield’s US-listed shares fared much better on the New Stock Exchange, gaining 74 cents, or 2 per cent, to close on $37.49.

The only other stock to trade on the BSX was One Communications Ltd, which remained unchanged on $3 as 2,304 shares changed hands.

Butterfield’s dip weighed heavily on The Royal Gazette/BSX Index, which fell 123.68 points, or 5.24 per cent, to close on 2,237.15.

BSX trading volume totalled 2,807 shares and turnover was $25,262.90.

The BSX Insurance Index gained 10.18 points, or 0.71 per cent, to close on 1,442.51.
