BIU, BPSU to meet for emergency talks today
The Bermuda Industrial Union and the Bermuda Public Services Union will each meet for emergency talks today.
The meetings follow wage agreement discussions the organisations had with Premier Paula Cox on Tuesday.
Members of the BIU will meet at 10am at the Heritage Worship Centre at the New Testament Church of God on Dundonald Street in Hamilton.
Union president Chris Furbert said the meeting is not expected to last for more than two hours.
Its purpose is to discuss a proposal from Government for a new Collective Bargaining Agreement, he said.
The Premier will be in attendance. Public updates will be made on bus and ferry service while the meeting is conducted.
The BPSU meeting takes place at 3.30pm at the same location and is open to all Government workers.
Persons are required to bring their union membership cards for identification.
Last night, a Government spokesperson said the Ministry of Transport will work to ensure there is “as little disruption as possible” to bus and ferry service during the BIU meeting.
