Driver fined, banned from the roads for one year
A 28-year-old man who crashed his car after drinking was banned from the roads for a year.
Keivon Scott, of Spice Hill, Warwick, admitted in Magistrates' Court to driving while impaired the morning after drinking.
He told Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo: “There was still alcohol in my system.”
The court heard that on July 13 at 10.25am, Police arrived at the scene of a two vehicle collision on Middle Road, Paget, near Dudley Hill. Both vehicles were damaged. Scott was sitting in his car. Police observed he was slumped and smelled of alcohol.
Asked if he had been drinking, Scott said: “Yes, but it was from last night.”
Taken to Hamilton Police station, he provided breath samples showing 145 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood. The legal limit is 80 mg per 100 ml.
Mr Tokunbo fined Scott $800 to be paid by January 7, and disqualified him from driving for 12 months.
