St George’s men face cannabis smuggling charges

Two St George’s men have been charged with planning to smuggle $45,000 worth of cannabis into Bermuda.James Walker, 40, of Tommy Fox Road, and Desmond Trott, 22, of Great Bay Road, were not required to enter a plea when they appeared at –Magistrates’ Court last week.Their case is indictable and must be heard before Supreme Court.Mr Walker and Mr Trott are accused of conspiring together and with others to import cannabis, between a date unknown and May 12, 2010.Crown counsel Nicole Smith told Magistrates’ Court that 1,598.8 grams of cannabis were involved. She said the drugs had an estimated street value of $45,450.Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner granted each man $10,000 bail. They were ordered to return to court on May 13.
