Teen given conditional discharge for offensive words
A 17-year-old St George’s girl received a year’s curfew in Magistrates’ Court, for getting into a heated confrontation with police.Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner gave a conditional discharge to Coreen Scott, of Wellington Street, who admitted using offensive words and obstructing a police officer.Scott was arrested near the Gravity nightclub on North Shore Road, Devonshire, where police responded to reports of a fight at 3.10am on June 19.She was pointed out to officers as she tried to get onto a motorcycle, at the scene of a second fight.Officers tried to speak with her but Scott did not reply.After an officer stopped her from activating the bike, she said: “Leave me the f***k alone, you’re not getting these f***ing keys.”A recent high school graduate, Scott wore her uniform to court.She apologised to the court and said: “I was unsure what (the officer) was saying because he was a foreigner.”Mr Warner gave her a conditional discharge on the condition that she see a probation officer, and comply with a 9pm to 6am curfew for one year.
