Motorcyclist fined and banned from the roads

A 24-year-old man pleaded guilty in Magistrates’ Court to drinking and driving on Middle Road in Paget.Antoine Bean was stopped by police at 3.15am on March 6 at the junction with Lover’s Lane after he was seen swerving on his bike.Police said he was unsteady on his feet, swaying from left to right. Officers noted that his eyes were glazed over and his breath smelled of alcohol.When asked if he had been drinking Bean replied: “Yes, I had enough to get me home.”Bean was taken in custody and a breath test revealed that he had 83mg in 100ml of blood, just over the legal limit of 80mg.Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner fined Bean $1,000 and banned him from the road for a year.
