Man caught with cannabis

A Smith’s man caught with a small quantity of cannabis has been fined in Magistrates’ Court.

Maurice Smith, 38, pleaded guilty to having 0.5 grams of the drug on April 21.

The court heard that Smith was stopped by police on the Glebe Road at 8.40pm and arrested on a separate matter.

He was searched after a police canine showed interest in his right foot. A small plastic twist containing cannabis was found.

Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner ordered Smith to pay $1,000.
