Two Georgia women charged with importing cannabis resin

Two American women were remanded in custody yesterday on charges they conspired to import more than $400,000 of cannabis resin.Neither 23-year-old Alloah Jatan Releford, from Temple, Georgia, nor 27-year-old Latoya Nicole Powell, from Marietta, Georgia, was required to enter a plea as the matter must be heard in Supreme Court.The pair was charged with conspiring with others not before the court, between a date unknown and October 8, to import 2.7kg of the controlled drug aboard the cruise ship Carnival Fantasy.The value of the drugs was estimated to be around $406,550 if sold on the streets of Bermuda.Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner remanded both defendants into custody until October 25, when the matter will be mentioned.
