Man fined for having cannabis and drug equipment
A St George’s man was fined $1,500 in Magistrates’ Court for possession of drugs and drug equipment.Justin Denbrook, 28, pleaded guilty to possessing cannabis and a scale.Crown counsel Cindy Clarke said police on patrol stopped Denbrook on Sink Road, St George’s around 1pm on October 13.A K9 unit indicated towards the front of Denbrook’s pants, where officers found a single joint containing around one gram of cannabis.Officers later had reason to search Denbrook’s home. There they discovered a scale with trace amounts of green, plant-like material, later revealed to be cannabis.Denbrook told the court: “The scale was in my house, but it didn’t work. That’s all I have to say.”Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner responded: “It worked too hard?”Mr Warner fined Denbrook $1,000 for the cannabis, and another $500 for the scale, giving him one month to pay the fine or face time in prison.
