Senior denies sex charge

A 73-year-old man yesterday denied repeatedly sexually exploiting a young girl over the course of five years.The defendant, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded not guilty to four counts of sexually exploiting a young person under the age of 14.Magistrates’ Court heard the complainant, who also cannot be named, is now aged ten. The complainant reportedly came forward after reading a story about a young person who had been abused. Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner remanded the defendant until December 29, when he is expected to return to Magistrates’ Court for trial.
