Man accused of smuggling $1.4m of heroin to Bermuda

A 46-year-old man yesterday appeared in court charged with smuggling heroin valued at $1.4 million into the Island.Shannon Forth, 46, of no fixed abode, was charged in Magistrates’ Court with importing 483.7g of the controlled drug diamorphine and possessing the heroin with intent to supply.Mr Forth was arrested at the LF Wade International Airport on December 6 after arriving on a flight from Canada.It is understood the drugs would carry a value of more than $1.4 million if sold on the streets of Bermuda.Mr Forth remained silent throughout proceedings. He was not required to enter a plea as the matter will be heard by the Supreme Court.Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner granted Mr Forth $1 million bail with a surety and the condition that he reside at his brother’s home in Somerset and report to the Somerset Police Station three times a week.He is expected to return to court on December 23 for the matter to be mentioned.
