Third man accused of involvement in violent assault

A third man has been charged with two brothers accused of an attack on their mother’s ex-boyfriend.Joshua Boorman, 21, of Southampton was not required to enter a plea in Magistrates’ Court yesterday, as the charges are indictable and will ultimately go before the Supreme Court.Mr Boorman is accused of assaulting Raymond Simmons on March 26, with intent to do him grievous bodily harm.He is further charged with causing grievous bodily harm and possessing an offensive weapon, namely a golf club, in a public place.Brothers Makonnen Lowe, 27 and Quan Lowe, 25, both of Riviera Crescent, Southampton, appeared before Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner on the same charges last week.The court heard then that they were part of a group who attacked Mr Simmons on the morning of March 26.Mr Simmons sustained multiple injuries, including a puncture wound below his armpit, a broken tooth, bruises and a cut to the back of his head that required three sutures to close.Mr Warner remanded Mr Boorman in custody. The case was set down for April 12 when all three defendants will reappear for mention.
