Bail revoked for curfew breaker

A 22-year-old St George’s man accused of joining in a gas station brawl has had his bail revoked a second time — after his electronic bracelet caught him breaking his curfew with a night on the town.Umdae Woolridge, of Miss Vickey’s Lane, was arrested in the early hours of May 24, when the device showed him at Swinging Doors, on Court Street, followed by The Beach, on Front Street. Police caught him there at 12.34am.Admitting breaking his 10.30pm to 6am curfew, Woolridge told Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner he had been without transport, and was trying to contact friends and family for help.“There’s better reception at The Beach?” Mr Warner suggested.Crown counsel Maria Sofianos told the court that Woolridge is awaiting trial for “serious matters involving five others”, in connection with an August 12 fight at the Esso City Tigermarket. He had been ordered to wear the electronic tagging device after an earlier curfew breach. Ms Sofianos said the bracelet even tracked Woolridge travelling at 21mph as he headed to the Front Street bar.Woolridge, who denied charges of grievous bodily harm, actual bodily harm and wilful damage, told Mr Warner he now wished to change his plea. He was ordered to return to court on Monday.
