A Westgate inmate currently awaiting trial for wounding and assault was charged with additional offences yesterday in Magistrates’ Court.Prosecutor Tawana Tannock said that on September 5, Leonard Swan, 44, allegedly assaulted and caused bodily harm to DC Patrick Jones while in an increased penalty zone, Westgate Correctional Facility.She also said on the same date, Mr Swan allegedly intended to cause distress, fear or alarm and was motivated by antipathy to DC Jones on account of his place of origin.The third count read that Mr Swan allegedly behaved in a threatening manner to tourists and DC Jones.Mr Swan denied all three counts.Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner set the matter for trial on January 14.Mr Swan was remanded in custody until then.
