Urinating in the street costs man $300

A 30-year old Pembroke man caught urinating on a public street was yesterday fined $300 in Magistrates' Court.

Jaha Mallory was spotted by police in the middle of Court Street near the junction with Elliott Street, on Thursday night.

Crown counsel Nicole Smith said the defendant told the arresting officers that instead of bothering him, they should be out arresting the guy who killed his friends the night before.

Ricco Furbert and Haile Outerbridge were murdered at Belvin’s Variety store in Pembroke, on Wednesday night.

Yesterday Mallory told the court that he had a few drinks and couldn't hold it in.

"I thought I was in the trees and didn't realise I was in the street until I saw the white bus and the police,” he said.

Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner replied: "So you were drunk and thought you were in the bushes.”

Replied Mallory: "I didn't know what I was doing, when you get caught short, you get caught short, that’s all I can say.“

Said Mr Warner: “You fellows must have more respect for your neighbourhoods.”
