Man denies using fake gun during arrest
A 28-year-old Pembroke man denied resisting arrest with a fake gun when he appeared at Magistrates’ Court.Trovaughn Smith pleaded not guilty to charges of using an imitation firearm and violently resisting arrest in Southampton on April 11.Crown counsel Larissa Burgess told the court that Smith allegedly attempted to take the fake gun out of his pocket while being searched by police.She said Smith, whose address was not given in court, was involved in a high-speed chase with officers before he was stopped and searched.Smith pleaded guilty to disobeying a traffic sign and failing to stop after being instructed to by police on the same date.Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner remanded Smith in custody and adjourned the matter until September 3 for a summary trial.
