Drover fails to show for trial
Police are still trying to track down a woman accused of trying to provoke an assault on a Supreme Court judge with an online post.Carolyn Drover, 44, of Clay Court, Hamilton Parish, was due to stand trial at Magistrates’ Court yesterday but is believed to have fled the Island.Prosecutor Susan Mulligan told Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo that Ms Drover wasn’t in court and hadn’t appeared for a disclosure hearing the previous month. Mr Tokunbo said a warrant had been issued for her arrest.Ms Drover was brought to court in April on a charge of posting an inflammatory comment on The Royal Gazette’s website on January 25, calling for Puisne Judge Carlisle Greaves to be assaulted. She denied a charge of soliciting, inciting or attempting to procure the assault on Mr Justice Greaves for an act executed under his duty by law.She also denied attempting to procure another person to unlawfully assault him.Ms Drover, who is alleged to have posted the judge’s home address online, was initially remanded in custody by Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner but later released after a bail hearing.A Bermuda Police Service spokesman, asked to provide an update on the hunt for Ms Drover, said yesterday: “It would be inappropriate to comment on this matter at this time, as it is currently before the courts.”
