HSBC worker denies stealing more than $50,000

An HSBC Bermuda employee has been charged with stealing more than $50,000 over the course of four years.

Traci Ball, 46, of Horseshoe Road, Southampton, denied five counts of stealing credit balances belonging to HSBC, one count of stealing a $5,100 credit balance belonging to Juoko Karkela, and a further count of stealing $34,400 from HSBC, when she appeared at Magistrates’ Court today.

The first five charges accuse Ms Ball of stealing individual credit balances — belonging to HSBC — of $6,091, $1,684, $1,288, $931.02, and $900 between November 7, 2008 and July 31, 2012.

The final charge of stealing $34,400 from the bank is said to have occurred between March 25, 2008 and September 25, 2012.

Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner released Ms Ball on $6,000 bail with one surety. She will be tried on May 23.
